Todd Minturn is the Director of Hole in the Rock Ministries, faculty for our training programs, retreat facilitator and spiritual director. He grew up in the small farming community of Hilmar, CA, and in Hilmar Covenant Church. His involvement with InterVarsity Christian Fellowship at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, in the mid '80s solidified his faith and planted the seeds for a lifelong journey of spiritual growth and development.
After 3 years as a CPA in Sacramento he began ministry with InterVarsity in '92 back at Cal Poly. An interest in urban ministry and the spiritual formation of college students in an urban missions context brought him back to Northwest Pasadena summer after summer. This led to his relocation to an urban neighborhood in Fresno in '02. His urban ministry experiences and study of the Hebrew prophets have grown his heart for issues of reconciliation and justice, particularly around race and ethnicity.
Todd's journey with anxiety and depression led him to contemplative Christianity and he has been profoundly formed by the ministry and teaching of Franciscan priest, Richard Rohr, founder of the Center for Action and Contemplation in Albuquerque, NM. He has also been shaped and guided by the work of Bill Plotkin and his involvement in the wilderness Soulcraft programs of Plotkin's Animas Valley Institute in Durango, CO. Outdoors is where Todd loves to be and he is growing in his awareness and experience of our interconnectedness with the earth and all things.
Todd has a certificate in Spiritual Direction and Formation, and a certificate in Spiritual Direction Supervision from Christian Formation and Direction Ministries. He resides in Fresno, CA, with his wife, Carrie, and his two sons, Bryce and Cody. Bryce Canyon and Southern Utah are some of his favorite places to connect with God through nature, along with the Grand Tetons and the Central and Northern California coast.

Lynn Baker is a Hole in the Rock Ministries board member, faculty for our training programs, a retreat facilitator and a spiritual director. Her passion and joy is to nurture life’s interconnections and mystery in the light and warmth of Jesus Christ, whether she is sitting with another person, volunteering at a community permaculture garden or creating art. She holds gratitude for a broad range of life’s experiences which led to her present participation with Todd at Hole in the Rock.
Ministering among Central Americans in Honduras over the course of many years showed Lynn that humans see life through particular cultural/religious/experiential narratives. Living through a major natural disaster upended her former superhero concept of God, and led her to experience the incarnational presence of God in Jesus Christ as profoundly with us and for us. Fifteen years as a hospital Chaplain deepened her awareness of suffering, resilience and meaning in human experience.
Lynn first trained as a spiritual director in the 1990’s, in her practice, she has developed a deep appreciation for Internal Family Systems (IFS) as helpful paradigm for understanding one’s internal world. She integrates traditional spiritual direction with IFS, inviting internal “parts” and their stories into Christ’s light and warmth. Being with people in this journey is a source of great joy for Lynn. In this work, she senses echoes of the flow of life among the persons of the Trinity, a template of the cosmic dance in which all are invited to participate!
Lynn holds an MA in Christian Studies from New College Berkeley, a certificate in Spiritual Formation and Direction from Eastern Mennonite Seminary, training in Internal Family Systems Level 1 and a Spiritual Direction Supervision Certificate from Spiritual Directors International with Lucy Abbot Tucker.
